"We stayed two nights in a very comfortable room, with great quality linen and bed nice and firm. The room on the ground floor was roadside but very quiet and we slept well both nights. Great shower pressure, lovely thick towels. All very good.
The restaurant has a good selection of Japanese food, the gyoza were absolutely lovely, sashimi quality very good with powerful wasabi! We enjoyed the nigiri very much and the tempura dishes were excellent. We were in Japan two months ago and we did not taste better there!" August 2025

"Spent 2 nights at Hurley House in hot August weather! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like VIPs. Chloe could not have been more helpful, friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room (No.10) was exquisite. Scrupulously clean, comfortable with extra little touches as well as best quality towels, robes and linen that make all the difference and the air con was very welcome! We didn’t dine at the hotel as we had planned to visit other restaurants in the area but will definately visit again to do so.You can view the kitchen from the walk way to the rooms…fab to see the chefs working in such amazing and spotless conditions. The staff are really friendly and attentive but relaxed and professional. The perfect balance of being on hand if you need anything but giving you space to enjoy your time. The Omakase experience was by far the best food experience we have ever had. The food was beautifully curated, flavours and textures were perfectly balanced and our chef (Chef Suren) talked through the ingredients and interacted with us in a wonderfully understated way. It was amazing to watch him put everything together, like watching artwork. .... We are going to make this an annual thing and see what Omakase experience we have next year!" August 2025

"Had a really nice dinner for my partner’s 27th Birthday. They had a great range of vegan food across all three courses, which is rare, especially considering how nice each dish was! We were welcomed by a couple of drinks on the house. Really nice atmosphere with live music from a talented pianist. And the servers went above and beyond, making the experience really special - so massive thank you. Overall, with the great tasting food and excellent service, I thought the price was very reasonable - got a lot for your money. And the best part was that service charge wasn’t forced on you like other restaurants. It made me much happier to tip for a job well done at the end. The room looked brand new and was spotlessly clean. The food was fantastic both the Sushi menu and the regular food were excellent, the sommelier picked a perfect bottle of wine at a lower price point than the one we initially chose (which happened to be out of stock that day). Plenty of secure parking and within easy reach of London, Marlow, Henley, Heathrow and Reading. Only slight downside is the road is quite busy but we slept perfectly due to excellent double glazing!" Everything about it was brilliant. As a big fan of Japan, I was treated to afternoon tea with a twist - instead of sandwiches there was sushi, wagyu croquettes and bao buns. The cakes included white chocolate and sake, mochi and pancakes. The scones had matcha dusting and came with red bean paste. We ended this experience with green tea. Honestly delicious - ate every bite. I hope this experience is here to stay as it's unique and tasty. The pavilion was stunning with the roof lights, Christmas decorations, new wood panelling and much more…!Once the party was over and it was time for bed. The rooms were incredible! Although they were a little small, this didn't matter as they were clean, well kept, beautifully decorated with all the bells and whistles you could think of.If you are thinking of using this venue for an event or wedding, we cannot recommend the location and team enough. "My husband and myself got married at Hurley House in September 2022. From the moment i made an enquiry, to when we left we were given the most super service. Everything was fantastic, I had so many questions, betty went above and beyond to help me, we hired the small room off the restaurant, as we only had a small wedding ( 22 people to be precise) but everything was perfect. We had been for lunch here a few times before booking and had completely fallen in love with everything about it. We got married in the small room, then went outside for cocktails and photos on the terrace, then came back in for the most amazing 3 course dinner. The food is devine, but what really makes this place special is the staff. They are all incredible, so kind, attentive, and still remember us now when we go back for dinner. We stayed the night after in one of the bedrooms, which are equally as gorgeous as the rest of the building. I love that we can go back now, it will always be our special place. "What a fantastic evening, arriving in the dark to the hotel lit beautifully and a lovely reindeer display to boot was quite enchanting. The bar and dining areas are well laid out, cosy but spacious, creating a lovely atmosphere - with all facilities matching that standard. The service was immaculate from start to finish, with just enough chat and timely interventions throughout. Finally, the food and experience of the Japanese Omakase Bar was exceptional - as good as any Michelin starred establishment. The Chef (and host) was superb, it's quite a talent to talk to strangers all night but also allow them to talk to each other alone. All 16 courses were superb and when you aren't quite sure what you'll be getting that is remarkable. A great mix of different fish, veg and thankfully waygu cooked or prepared beautifully, with some very interesting and always tasty twists. The Omakase Bar isn't the cheapest meal but it is absolute value for money and we will most certainly be returning for the next special occasion. "We visited one Friday evening recently - a last minute decision but after a busy working week, my husband & I decided to treat ourselves to dinner in the bar area and we were so lucky a table was available when we made our booking online. Having dined here before pre Covid both in the restaurant & the bar area, we knew it was worth driving for an hour to get there! Upon arrival, all the staff who greeted us were polite & welcoming and the attention to detail with the presentation and quality of the food being excellent and really special. Congratulations to all concerned - it was such a treat and although we couldn’t afford to eat here all the time, we would thoroughly recommend for a special occasion for a special dining experience with excellent food, drink & service. A lot of other hotel restaurants and bars could learn a lot from the management of the Hurley House team - it was a lovely meal with first class service & we will definitely be back! Everything was just perfect from the warm welcome, the brilliant jazz singer Laura and the complimentary treats for Mother’s Day, that were generous and thoughtful extras, that many top 5 star hotels wouldn’t bother doing. The interiors of Hurley House are just lovely, beautifully fitted out, complete with some fab Todd White art on the walls! George was extremely professional and offered the highest level of service throughout. The food was excellent, a great roast and it’s so hard to get good quality beef that’s also cooked to perfection. Starters were scrummy and presentation as you would expect from a Michelin 2 star kitchen. There are few restaurants in the area that tick all the boxes like Hurley House Hotel." March 2023

A few long dog walks have seen me repeatedly find my way to the the Hurley House Hotel for lunches and drinks, and it’s a habit that seems to be growing. From the front of house girls through to the table service there’s nothing to fault. That I look forward to arriving and saying hello to all the staff and find myself staying far longer than I should is testament to the amazing culture and wonderful people that work here. Then there’s the food, which is to die for. Lunches seem to go from snack to feast with welcome regularity. Married with the guidance of a sommelier who clearly loves her job and there’s not much more one could wish for…until you realise the dog and children have been just as spoilt as you.
Having dined around the World with work, it’s not often I go to places these days with a wow factor, but Hurley House does, and does so on every visit. That it’s so local is the icing on the cake.
